ever since the accident.
It was bound to happen. Almost a year to the date after starting to compete in the extreme sport that is biking in the city, my worst fear was realized. Someone opened a car door literally two feet in front of me. Ouch.
Thanks to the ridiculous northerly wind I was facing at the time, I was traveling at about negative 5 miles per hour and therefore the injuries sustained were minimal. Nonetheless, the usually olive complexion of my left arm has transformed into a myriad of other edible hues -- mustard, eggplant, blueberry, and a couple other things you could find in aisle 9 at the Lincoln Park Market.
Other than that though, no harm done thankfully. And on the plus side, I get to try weaving the phrase 'well... ever since the accident' into every conversation possible.
If anything, let this disgusting contusion be a public service announcement: Please look both ways before exiting a taxi into the bike lane.
